June 1st to 7th is annual “Volunteers Week”, when we take time to celebrate everyone who gives their time to make life better
Since the coronavirus gripped Britain, over 300 people have come forward in our area to register with the Uttlesford Community Response Hub and that doesn’t include all the local groups that have been started like Care For Your Neighbour in Great Dunmow, who we have been able to pass requests to so they can be actioned by local people. Between them, those fantastic people have responded to over 1,600 help requests – including shopping, getting urgent medicines, regular prescriptions, welfare calls, telephone befriending, hosting online “Tea and Chat” sessions and even getting people to hospital and back.
On behalf of every single one of us, thank you to everyone single one of you that is helping to keep our community safe, well, and operating in these very difficult circumstances. We owe you our gratitude, our respect and as we move into the recovery phase of this crisis, will need you more than ever.
Thank you.
