The CVS Uttlesford Team had a busy Bank Holiday weekend participating in the Countess of Warwick Country Show
Our mobile cafe in a horsebox couldn’t have been a better choice for a country show in the rural wilds of Uttlesford. We certainly blended in with the agricultural machinery, static displays, horseboxes and farm animals. The show was well attended over both days and despite the weather being hotter than the average bank holiday – we took over £200 in donations for the freshly made coffees, teas and bottles of water that were available alongside our chat and information displays.
It was great to meet friends old and new, and feel very much part of our community. The role of the CVS is moving much more towards community service provision, working to meet needs around loneliness and isolation, helping people to be better connected, to live more independently and provide happy time for sharing and caring.
Our thanks to the organisers of the Countess of Warwick Show for inviting CVS Uttlesford to be part of this fantastic community event. We’re already looking forward to returning next year!
If you have time to spare and would be interested in learning to operate the mobile cafe, CVS Uttlesford needs volunteer support at future events. This new project (“Drinks with Community Links”) is very much in demands and next year we want to be present in as many rural locations as we can.
